2019 New Year Party

Annual new year party was held.
Date: January 13 Sun) from 10:30am to noon
Place: Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center
Host: Yokohama Aoba International Lounge

The first annual event in 2019, New Year Party of Yokohama Aoba International Lounge was held on January 13 (Sun). Though it was the middle day of three consecutive holidays, about 70 residents including foreign residents gathered.
The party room was decorated with new year decorations such as flower arrangements and brush writings of the word “boar”, which created bright new year celebration atmosphere. In the mini event, we enjoyed Gamelan by traditional Indonesian percussion instrument ensemble “Bali suka campur”. We felt really comforted by bamboo sound and children were very much interested in the unique instruments having chance to touch them.
After the mini event, we chatted over Sushi, cakes, and drinks. Pleasant conversation continued endlessly. At the end, Japanese cakes were presented and many people left words of appreciation.

2018 New Year Event

Annual “New Year Event” was held.

Date: January 7 (Sun) from 10:30am to noon

Place: Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center

Host: Yokohama Aoba International Lounge

We had annual “New Year Event 2018” on January 7 (Sun) as the first event of Yokohama Aoba International Lounge. Though it was on the middle day of three consecutive holidays, 80 people including foreigners, local residents and staffs gathered and had a lively party. New year decorations including brush writing of the kanji character of the year were displayed in the room, which enhanced the mood of new year celebration. As a mini event, Yokohama Accordion Club members played “Soushunfu, Ode to early spring”, and “Miagetegoran yoruno hoshiwo, Look up to see the night stars” and we all sang together to it. Then we enjoyed a quiz to answer names of Japanese folk songs.

We also experienced Iranian dance instructed by Sia, a teacher of a foreign language class of the lounge. First Sia instructed the dance in plain English, then, we all danced together to Iranian music. After the event, we had joyful conversation over snacks, sushi, and drinks. Many participants told us that it was really fun. Thank you very much for your participation.

2017 New Year Party
We had annual “New Year Party”

Annual New Year Party to celebrate the year 2017 was held on January 8 (Sun). 70 people including staffs got together at the party even though it was the middle day of three consecutive holidays. 8 foreigners joined the event. Exhibition of fine calligraphies, traditional flower arrangements, and New Year decorations enhanced the atmosphere of New Year celebration. As a mini event, we enjoyed Mexican music by Ms. Sawaka and Mr. Alejandro. We enjoyed singing and dancing to the music. After the event, we had social time over Sushi, snacks and drinks. Pleasant chat lasted to the end of the party. We were also very happy to have received words such as “It was fun” , “Thank you, it was very good”. Thank you very much for your participation.

2016 New Year Event
Annual “New Year Event” was held.

Annual “New Year Event” to celebrate the beginning of 2016 was held on January 10 (Sun).
Though it was the middle day of three consecutive holidays, 80 people including 60 participants and staffs got together. Exhibition of fine calligraphies, traditional flower arrangements, and New Year decorations enhanced the atmosphere of New Year celebration. In the mini event, we were moved by the traditional dance praying for happiness by a lady from Thailand and enjoyed the erhu performance by the group “Meihu” of 5 ladies. Singing to erhu performance by all participants added extra excitement to the event. After the mini event, we all enjoyed chattering each other over snacks and drinks to the end of the event.

 

We had annual New Year Gathering.

We had annual New Year Gathering 2015 on January 11th (Sunday) to celebrate the beginning of the year.  Even though it was in the middle of three consecutive holidays, 87 people including staffs got together enjoying the mild weather.  A beautiful calligraphy of kanji character “Sheep”, flora arts, and New Year toys such as battledores and tops were displayed.   A Chinese young lady and her daughter joined in Japanese kimono, which added the gathering flowery loveliness.  As a mini event, we enjoyed the performance of Libre Saxophone Quartet consisted of young child raising mothers.  The performance began with the famous classical medley by Mozart and ended with “Let it go” from the big hit, “Frozen”.  We all gave a big hand to the impressive performance.   We also sang “Furusato” together accompanied by saxophones.  After the performance, we enjoyed endless conversation with each other over drinks and snacks as usual. 
 
 

Annual New Year Party 2014

Annual New Year party was held at Yokohama Aoba International lounge celebrating the start of the year.60 people  including lounge staffs joined the party on the final day of New Year Holidays.Various New Year's decorations such as a calligraphic kanji character of "horse"(it is the year of horse) were put on the wall of the room of Aoba International Lounge We all enjoyed the mini event,  Arpa ( Paraguayan harp) concert played by Miss Arisa Matsuki. Big applause erupted at the end of each music.  We were all touched and relaxed by the beautiful sound.Even after the performance many people continued talking with Miss Matsuki asking various questions about Arpa.Cheerful conversation continued over drinks and snacks until the end of the party.Please look at the picture.  Looks fun, doesn't it?
