March 2015 Morning Coffee

 The last Morning Coffee was held on March 1.  37 participants including 12 newcomers joined together.   Some of newcomers joined without knowing that it was the last Morning Coffee and said that it happened to be the first and the last Morning Coffee meeting for them. 
As the mini event, we enjoyed balloon art together with children.  We enjoyed fun conversation with each other to the end as usual. 
 
Dear folks, we sincerely appreciate your long support to our Morning Coffee meeting.  We are looking forward to seeing you again in the new event to be held in the next fiscal year.

Place: Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center Room No2 and 3 
 
38 people including 6 people from foreign countries, a family from New Zeeland and students, joined together in spite of its cold weather.   As a mini event, we had women’s chorus group “SNOWBIRDS” as our guest.  We enjoyed “Do-Re-Mi”, “L.O.V.E.”, and “Lazuline Earth” in their lively singing.   With witty talks by a chorus member, the concert was filled with a joyful mood.   After the mini event, we enjoyed endless conversation with each other as usual.

 
Morning Coffee, December 2014
Date; December 7th (Sun) from 10:30am to noon
Place; Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center  Room No2 and No3
 
 22 people participated at the December Morning Coffee.  Participants were less than usual and there was no foreigner for the first time.  First we enjoyed Sudoku Game and sang Christmas songs together to the accompaniment of music by our staffs.  Then we all enjoyed conversation with each other as usual until noon.  
 

 
Date; November 2nd (Sun) from 10:30am to noon
Place: Room 2 and 3 of Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center
23 people attended the Morning Coffee, which was fewer than usual because it was in the middle of three days off in a row.  At the beginning we practiced stretching following the staff's performance.  Then we enjoyed folkdance in a ring to Israeli song "Mayim Mayim"    For the rest of the time we enjoyed conversation with each other as usual including many children who came with their parents.
 

 
Date: October 5th (Sun) from 10:30am to noon
Place: Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center Room No. 2, 3
20 people got together in spite of strong wind and rain of typhoon.
In mini event, we had an English gentleman, a native English speaker, as a guest.   He made a presentation from a unique point of view about the comparison of expression between in English and in Japanese.  In Japanese, there are only three expressions about sensible temperature such as hot, cool, and cold, whereas in English, there are scorcher, hot, warm, cool, chilly, cold and freezing.  At the beginning, we were half in doubt since we believed our sensitivity.  However we became more and more convinced by the end of the presentation.  It was a very interesting presentation.

35 people including people from foreign countries got together in spite of light rain.  We enjoyed songs by KETCHUP & MAYONNAISE as a mini event. We also had an attendance from Bangladesh Embassy.  As always we had wonderful time chattering each other.  

 
Date: Aug. 3, 2014 (Sun) from 10:30am to noon
Place: Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center, Room 2 and 3
 
50 people (7 foreigners and 43 Japanese) got together in spite of extremely hot day. A family from Iran attended too.   As a mini event, we enjoyed “String ensemble in summer vacation” inviting “Otonomori Aoba”, a string ensemble group actively performing in Aoba Ward and Machida City area.  We enjoyed beautiful, touching sound of “Eine kleine Nachtmusik”, “Salut d'amour “, and “Arie auf G”.  Though it was a very hot day, many young couples with their babies / children and also many junior high students and university students in summer vacation enjoyed the lively morning coffee together.

Place: Yokohama Aoba International Lounge, Rooms No.2 and No.3
July Morning Coffee was held in the Tanabata (Star Festival) atmosphere at Yokohama Aoba International Lounge where a bamboo branch with paper strips and ornaments to celebrate Tanabata was decorated.  
Since Takaoka Silk Mill in Gunma prefecture was formally registered as a world heritage last month, the mini event was the presentation about world heritages by Lounge staff. World heritages were introduced using power point slides and we challenged ourselves with quiz about world heritages.  After that, we enjoyed friendly conversation as usual.

32 people participated in June Morning Coffee. As usual, 12 new participants introduced themselves, then we had a mini event “Tips for overseas travel”. Our stuff presented how to realize inexpensive overseas travel of your own schedule using the English knowledge we studied at junior high school. We discussed how to plan a fun overseas travel, how to make a reservation, international exchange through overseas travel, a personal travel that can be realized for half the price of that of a package tour by travel agencies, and how to make friends of all over the world with your smartphone. After the presentation, all participants enjoyed talking about overseas travel.

Place: Yokohama Aoba International Lounge No.2, 3Meeitng Room 

37 people perticipated though it was in the middle of Golden Week.     At the beginning of the meeting,   
< new perticipants indtroduced themselves as usual.    As a mini-event, we listened to the report of volunteer works          
in Republic of the Philipines, "Children who can not afford to go to school."  We all listened attentively to the   
report about children who live in poverty in Republic of the Philipines.   Each person should be impressed    
somehow.   After the mini-event, we all enjoyed free conversation with each other until the end of the meeting.. 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
April, 2014  Morning Coffee
 
Date; April 6th, from 10:30am to noon
Place: Yokohama Aoba International Lounge Room 2 and 3.
 
52 perticipants  including 4 from overseas countries enjoyed communication with each other.
Mr. R, , Nepali, brought his friend in Japan, who wanted to communicate in English. Several Japanese perticipanhts enjoyed conversation with him in English.
As a mini event, Ms. Atsuko Aoki, who lives near Aoba International Lounge, performed violin mini concert,  "profound sound of violin".
We were very impressed and touched by the live performance of violin.

Morning Coffee March, 2014
Date: March 2nd (Sun) 2014 from 10:30am to 12:00
Place: Room #2 and #3, Aoba International Lounge
44 people including 27 newcomers attended March "Morning Coffee" despite the rainy weather.
The meeting started with  the  selfintroduction by newcomers as usual, then we had lively conversation with each other....
At the mini event, we enjoyed the beautiful sound of a female chorous "Olive".
We got lost in the beautiful harmony and the power of live voice.

Place : Aoba Community and Cross-Cultural Center; Conference Room 2 and 3.

 

More than 50 people attended the Feb. 2 Morning Coffee.In the begininng of the event, they started shaking hands with each other,. This broke the ice and all were soon relaxed.
The Performance was started in a friendly atmosphere.
After the new comers' self introduction, we enjoyed seeing a Hula Dance by Hula Maui and Ukulele being played by the Aobadai Ukulele Friends as a mini event.
Four students from Toin University of Yokohama joined and assisted the event as members of staff.

New comers from Egypt and Paraguay joined Morning Coffee and introduced theirselves with interesting topics. After special performance at Magic show as a mini event, performers were greatly applauded by the attendants and some of them had learned how to play magic and enjoyed very much.

Speakers was moved from Namie-town in Tohoku district and moved to Aoba, and made a valuable speech. The theme of the speech was on Aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and how to prevent from the disasters.
